The AdviserXchange Platform
AdviserXchange was originally launched more than a decade ago to address what its founder believed was a growing need for more streamlined options for those investment and financial advisers seeking to grow their businesses through acquisitions, and also plan and execute their succession.
The AdviserXchange Platform represents the latest iteration of our original goal of creating a user friendly acquisition and succession platform designed to more completely accommodate both do-it-yourself buyers and sellers of advisory firms/practices, as well as those advisers needing assistance or wanting to be more proactive with the acquisition or sale/succession process.
And while we have changed how we perform some of our services through the years, our original mission has remained the same:
To help investment and financial advisers achieve their respective acquisition and sale or succession objectives in the most efficient and effective way possible.
As part of that mission, we also strive to improve the quality of the services offered on the AdviserXchange Platform on an ongoing basis.
Prior to me working with Scott and AdviserXchange, we had come up with no acquisition results during a three or four year period. I had subscribed and paid for a number of other acquisition and broker services, but all had produced nothing. Finally, we started working with AdviserXchange, and since 2012, we have had opportunities to interview, meet and acquire numerous seller practices. In that time, we have bought or absorbed 6 other practices. AdviserXchange has helped us to realize our original growth vision, and we are still working on achieving more. This firm has been an amazing resource to us.

Scott Houston
Founder and principal Scott Houston has worked in the financial services industry for over three decades, primarily in sales, consulting, and executive roles within the commercial banking and securities sectors.
Much of the work Mr. Houston was involved with during the early years was both consultative and transactional in nature and largely focused on upper small and mid-market companies from a variety of industries. It was these activities that helped prepare him for the creation and launch of the AdviserXchange Platform.
Some early career highlights
- Served as a federal banking regulator, as well as President and in other senior-level positions for various financial institutions around the country.
- Advised and served on the board of a growth and acquisition oriented manufacturing company that ultimately sold in a cash deal for just under $100 million.
- Advised and became the Chief Financial Officer of a high growth, multi-state equipment rental company that, after initiating its IPO, sold in an alternative transaction for $175 million.
- Originated and managed large financing arrangements for numerous businesses and real estate development projects with as complete values of up to $100 million+.
Given his professional history, Mr. Houston is very comfortable consulting and working with all types of business clients and their principals. At the same time, he is most at home in the financial services industry, which is why AdviserXchange is an area of primary focus for his organization.
